The Edinburgh Incidental Orchestra was founded in 2009 by Calum Zuckert with the aim to engage audiences in exciting and dynamic performances of classical music, ranging from established repertoire to new commissions and less familiar works.
Since its inception, the EIO has supported over 150 young instrumentalists, 50 singers, and commissioned works from four young composers.
As the EIO plans its re-launch for Spring 2019 as a professional ensemble, funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund has helped make the Orchestra’s plans a reality.
Zuckert said of the donation, ‘the very generous donation from the Co-op Local Community Fund has enabled the EIO to have confidence in curating our new series, confirm venues, and continue organising our education work.
‘We will reach new audiences, involve over 200 Edinburgh school children, and work with the next generation of young professional musicians.
‘We are particularly grateful to the Co-op Local Community Fund and for their members and supporters in helping us reach this aim.’
